| ZZZzzzzzz.....I can't wait to get some rest this weekend. Life has been so busy as of late. In my down time all I can think about is sleep...soon my friend, very soon. So, I'm pretty much obsessed with Dan Bejar right now. The man is brilliant with more pearls of wisdom than one could ever imagine. I've taken to routinely typing out bits of his lyrics or quotes and then printing them out on neon flash cards to keep with me - this is because I hate my job and it's a brief retreat from the wonderful world of urinalysis. Ok, for example: I went down to the garden with the noblest of intentions. I felt the need to be brief. I stuck a rose between my teeth and had a laugh. A Dangerous Woman Up To A Point once said- "I've never read 'so-and-so, so why mention him here, in this square where culprits axe me, my dear. Tried to enjoy myself at the society ball, really I did. Froze on Union Street, it was springtime, I was just a kid...
Ok all, hope you enjoyed those snippets of magic.

| Last night was an interesting evening... I played "piano bar" at a banquet for the Library and Archives Committee of Nashville. Basically, a room full of people all over the age of 55, heavily into books and history; specifically religious books and history. But they were great. I ate dinner with a couple who runs a family-owned farm, and they take care of all the microfilm for the committee. Mr. Pine, the husband, was on a team recently that went through the entire state of Tennessee collecting every piece of newspaper that had been printed since 1790! Yeh, that's true. He spent years treking back and forth from the Smokey Mountains to the Mississippi River gathering all this cool old stuff. Then he proceeded to tell me a story (while we ate our mashed potatoes and pulled pork) about a jungle expedition where 15,000 still shots had been taken, but due to the heat, only about 150 were salvageable. Needless to say, he was fascinating. Oh, and he has two cats named Henry and Pusscumbs. We should pay more attention to the old. They have alot to tell us if we just listen for a bit. L O V E | | |
